If there are any Ableton/Live users I would like to hear your opinion or suggestions. I am giving myself 6 more weeks to try and if there is no visible progress I would have to switch to another DAW. After wasting on hour on getting simple things done the way I wanted I simply quit. Today I wanted to finish a project I abandoned 2 months ago, for the reason mentioned here and got stuck again. Perhaps some visual editor, similar to FX editor in DaVINCI-RESOLVE would be helpful. When I compose music I want to concentrate on the sound and notes and not on a technical aspects. Simplifying does not have to remove features or cut GUI "branches", but allowing simple (less intimidating modes) for those who do not need million options in front of their face and do not need to click 30 times to complete simple task. I've heard that after joining Fender S1 might be a bit simplified and (while initially I thought it is a bad idea), now this is my hope. On top of that issues with some plugins (which do not scale properly in S1, while work fine in Ableton), make things ever worse. This similar scenario have happened to me already more than once and I am afraid that being so unproductive will make me quit pretty soon. Ableton has also its limitations and that is the reason, that in many cases I would prefer to use S1.but Yes but when I have things to do and they take forever because every few minutes I'm stuck I prefer go back and re-do this in Ableton in a matter of minutes. I know - one can say.ohh you just need practice. Since having this much Ableton experience I am not completely new to the sound and music production but dealing with complexity of the S1 took 90% of my joy of making music. It is not that I am saying this is something bad to have, but it is bad for a New User. Moving the FX around, those (nightmare) Buss channels, and myriad of options. I watched tutorials about sound routing and it was kinda clear but when I started working with it I very quickly got lost. Presonus tutorials are great, but 99% of them concentrate on tips and trick and skip the basics. I am aware of Macros but that is another story which on one hand is great but on the other brings headache for new comers. Perhaps for some one who use DAW for full time work (40h/wk) this might be - NO ALTERNATIVE type of thing, but for casual user it is super hard. On top of that challenge (at least for me) there are hundreds of little things that one must to learn in order to use efficiently this program. I do not want to criticize the whole idea because I realize that with complexity comes lots of flexibility but there should be some kind of simplified interface or procedure for sound routing. It is all extremely complex, mind bugling and it seems to be very time-consuming. One example might be deleting certain things (tracks, instruments, objects, FX.and more). Despite my willingness to learn S1 I am completely overwhelmed by the way S1 handles sound routing and few other tasks which (in my opinion are way to much complicated). In the meantime, I have posted two messages on the Forum asking if there is any tutorial for Ableton users, but found no help so far. Purchased my P-Sphere license in December-2023. Trying to add S1 to my tools and want to learn to be productive but I have some kind of mental blockage after several months of trying. I've been Ableton user for over 12 years and I feel very comfortable with this program. It is just not enough for me (as a no-full-time user). S1 people do the best they can and they are doing great. First - let me say: I am not blaming anybody here.
